Uppercase Magazine Design Guide & Self Portrait / Identity Project • Make Art That Sells (Part A) Special Uppercase
I am taking the MAKE ART THAT SELLS (MATS) Classes and really enjoying them so far. I was so happy they came up with a self paced program; with a 3 year old nothings is ever planned or happen when it's supposed to. Don't get me wrong, my little girl is amazing and I love her to peices, but I don't call her pokey puppy for nothing!
Above is the Part A class extra assignment. Below is the Part B extra assignment.
The Part B, below was a Self Portrait / Identity Project. I had so much fun with this one in particular. I was able to share my vintage love. There are all sorts of goodies in this piece that speak to me. My grandpas old camera, my love of sewing and crafting, flowers, ferns; things that make me, me.
They are the only two that really had deadlines to get them turned by. So, I started there. More to come.

my friend Misti preschool logo progress • what fun this was!
My friend Misti got a new job working for a preschool and was wanting to see if I could update their logo (shown at the top) to a more refined illustration. I was thrilled. I love doing things like this. I made a 1st round sketch and we made some edits along the way to get a final adorable version just for her to use. Thank you Misti for asking me to draw this! I love love loved getting to help with this.

Grandma's House
This last month has been full of gathering things from Grandma's house and keeping the things that remind me of her house from when I stayed there often as a child. It's never anything a worth or even anything others in my family would want, but they mean a lot to me. She is moving into an assisted living place where she has her own little apartment. No need to cook or clean anymore Grandma! Yay! But, it does fill me with urgency to get any items I want now before they are gone forever.
I took the little "paint-by-number" butterfly hanging from the kitchen sink light. My grandpa passed away when I was about 3 years old and have a picture of him holding me up to the butterfly. It makes me think of him & Grandmas house. It now currently resides in our laundry room on the light pull for that area. Makes me smile every time I see it.
I also was going through the basement seeing if there was anymore milk glass pieces I love & saw this old plastic curtain covering a cart/shelf. I instantly loved the pattern. I was originally thinking of taking it and making something, but as we are getting the house on the market to sell - I really don't need anything else brought back into the house. So, I took a photo.
This photo is my inspiration and interpretation for this pattern I made. I will always be reminded of Grandma's when I look at it. I modernized the colors and made some tweaks to the style & pattern. But, it is very similar.
Ferns & Poppies Pattern Surface Designs
I have always loved ferns & poppies. I thought I'd take a little inspiration from this image I found on pinterest. It's really dreamy deep strong green teal colors that I loved to have the ferns in.
Some New Illustrations
Made this today thinking of my daughter, Siri. She can be a handful sometimes, but will always be my little diamond int he rough. I always look forward to our days together & cherish the time I get with her. Lucky me.
